Job Purpose

Lead and drive end-to-end IP Network Performance Management across PAN India network operations to ensure superior customer experience, service availability, network stability, and operational excellence.

The role is responsible for defining performance strategies, governing IP/MPLS network KPIs, driving automation and analytics initiatives, managing service performance across multiple technology domains, and leading transformation programs aligned with business and customer objectives. The incumbent will work closely with Operations, Planning, Engineering, Transport, Core, IT, Managed Service Partners, and Technology Vendors to optimize network performance and deliver best-in-class service experience.

Key Result Areas/Accountabilities

1. IP Network Performance Leadership

  • Own PAN India IP/MPLS network performance governance and strategy.
  • Ensure achievement of network availability, latency, throughput, utilization, congestion, and service quality targets.
  • Drive proactive performance monitoring and predictive analytics for IP network infrastructure.
  • Establish performance benchmarks and continuous improvement programs.

2. Service Experience & Customer Excellence

  • Monitor and improve customer-affecting IP KPIs.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring network issues.
  • Ensure optimal service quality across Mobility, Enterprise, Transport, Cloud, and Digital Services.
  • Lead initiatives focused on enhancing experience and service assurance.

3. Performance Analytics & Automation

  • Develop AI/ML-driven analytics frameworks for proactive network management.
  • Drive automation of performance reporting, KPI dashboards, anomaly detection, and trend prediction.
  • Implement advanced observability, analytics, and visualization platforms.
  • Leverage data-driven insights for network optimization and capacity planning.

4. Network Transformation & Innovation

  • Lead onboarding and integration of new technologies, platforms, and vendors.
  • Drive adoption of next-generation network performance tools and AI-enabled operations.
  • Support cloud-native, SDN, virtualization, and network modernization initiatives.
  • Enable continuous transformation towards autonomous network operations.

5. Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Collaborate with Planning, Engineering, Operations, Circle Teams, IT, and Managed Service Partners.
  • Govern vendor performance through KPI reviews, SLA adherence, and improvement plans.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership on network performance enhancement.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives to improve network efficiency and service outcomes.

6. Team Leadership & Capability Development

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of network performance professionals.
  • Drive capability development in IP technologies, automation, analytics, and AI.
  • Foster innovation, collaboration, and a performance-oriented culture.
  • Ensure effective succession planning and talent management.

7. Governance & Compliance

  • Own periodic reviews, executive dashboards, and management reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with technology governance, ITIL processes, security, and audit requirements.
  • Drive operational excellence through standardization and best practices.

Core Competencies, Knowledge, Experience

  • 12-15+ years of Telecom Technology experience with significant exposure to IP/MPLS, Transport, Core,  and Service Assurance domains.
  • Minimum 5+ years of leadership experience managing large-scale Network Operations and Performance functions.
  • Strong understanding of IP/MPLS architecture, routing protocols, traffic engineering, QoS, and service performance management.
  • Expertise in Network Analytics, Observability, AI/ML-based Operations, and Automation frameworks.
  • Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, Splunk, Data Analytics platforms, and performance monitoring tools.
  • Strong stakeholder management, program management, and vendor governance skills.
  • Experience managing geographically distributed teams and large-scale managed service environments.

Must have technical / professional qualifications

  • B.E. / B.Tech in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent.
  • MBA / PGDM (Preferred).
  • Strong understanding of IP/MPLS, Cloud, Data Center, SDN, Virtualization, and Service Assurance.
  • ITIL Foundation Certification (Preferred).
  • Cisco CCNP/CCIE, Juniper, Cloud, Data Analytics, or equivalent certifications (Preferred).
  • Strong analytical, leadership, communication, and strategic decision-making capabilities.
