Job Purpose

  • Managing relationships with vendors providing testing services.
  • Ensuring that vendor deliverables meet quality standards and contractual obligations
  • Drive QA & Testing processes in IT ecosystem as per organization policy
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains
  • To ensure quality compliance across SDLC phases (SIT, UAT, Pre-production) & ensure quality of all in-scope applications with respect to functional and non-functional requirements
  • Test plans outlining (scope, approach, resources, schedule, and deliverables)

Key Result Areas/Accountabilities

  • Test Planning: Developing test plans outlining the scope, approach, resources, schedule, and deliverables for testing activities
  • Resource Management: Assigning tasks to testers, managing their workload, and ensuring that the team has the necessary skills and resources to accomplish testing objectives
  • Risk Management: Assessing risks including technical, logistical, and resource-related risks & develop strategies to mitigate these risks
  • Stakeholder Communication: Facilitating communication between stakeholders, including project managers, developers, and business analysts, to ensure alignment on testing goals, progress, and issues.
  • Test Strategy Development: Defining the overall approach to testing, including the selection of testing techniques, tools, and methodologies based on project requirements and constraints.
  • Test Execution: Overseeing the execution of test cases, ensuring that testing activities are conducted according to the test plan, and monitoring progress against established milestones.
  • Defect Management: Establishing processes for defect reporting, tracking, and resolution. Prioritizing defects based on severity and impact on the project timeline and quality.
  • Quality Assurance: Implementing quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure that testing activities are conducted effectively and efficiently. This includes conducting reviews and audits of test artifacts and processes.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Defining and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) related to testing, such as defect density, test coverage, and test execution progress. Generating reports for stakeholders to provide visibility into the status and quality of the project.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the testing process. Implementing best practices, lessons learned, and feedback mechanisms to drive continuous improvement.
  • Training and Mentoring: Providing guidance, training, and mentorship to vendor teams to enhance their skills and capabilities. Promoting a culture of learning and knowledge sharing within the testing team.
  • Proven experience in driving adoption of testing processes using ALM tools like ALM Octane, Quality Center and JIRA

Core Competencies, Knowledge, Experience

  • Hands on experience in both Manual and Automation Testing
  • Hands on experience with ALM tools – ALM Octane, JIRA is must
  • Hands on experience in CI/CD, Jenkins is added advantage
  • Ability to define Testing Policies, strategy and Test KPIs
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
  • Certifications: Prince2 Practitioner & Foundation, CSM, ISTQB Foundation/CSTE
  • Knowledge of acquisition system relevant to Telecom exposure
  • Strong communications, interpersonal, negotiation skills. Highly competent in Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint/Visio/Word/good knowledge on Java & SQL
  • Ability to drive operational excellence through standardization and innovation in processes/systems/tools.
