Job Purpose	The General Manager - New Products, Services and Technology will provide regulatory support in the evaluation and enablement of new/planned to be modified products, services and deployments in consumer, enterprise and technology domains of the Company. This role ensures regulatory compliance in business and technology initiatives while working cross-functionally with product, technology, commercial, legal, privacy, security teams. Key Responsibilities : Collaborate closely with consumer, enterprise and technology teams to assess and approve their initiatives from regulatory, licensing and compliance perspective. Help design internal processes and checks to ensure such initiatives meet applicable regulatory obligations from day 1. Maintain regulatory evaluation and approval documentation. Facilitate smooth and timely clearances/ approvals/compliances keeping in mind VIL business imperatives and reputational impact. Capture regulatory bottlenecks or ambiguities and contribute to position papers, industry consultations, and DoT/TRAI submissions to recommend policy changes or seek clarifications before deployment. Facilitate business understanding and clarity on regulatory and licensing issues.
Key Result Areas/Accountabilities	Regulatory assessment and approvals Ensure timely and accurate regulatory assessment of new or planned to be modified consumer, enterprise and technology initiatives to support business growth and on-time project rollouts. [100% of initiatives assessed and approved within agreed turnaround times ; 100% of initiatives launched with zero post-facto regulatory non-compliance related penalties] Identify and resolve potential compliance hurdles, ambiguities balancing regulatory rigour with business imperatives. Provide clear go/no-go recommendations applying a balanced, risk based and pragmatic solutions based approach to ensure business enablement while safeguarding compliance. [Quality of regulatory assessment feedback rated by internal stakeholders] Maintain documentation of all evaluations and approvals for governance purposes. Regulatory compliance by design Partner with product and technology teams to embed compliance requirements into product/service design from inception. Help develop processes and internal controls to ensure adherence to licensing and regulatory obligations (incl. privacy and security obligations). [No: of processes streamlined or assessed] Cross functional collaboration and advisory Act as regulatory subject matter expert for technology, commercial, product innovation, legal, security and privacy teams. Translate complex regulatory, licensing, and policy requirements into actionable business and technology guidance. Build regulatory awareness and clarity within business teams through structured communication. External engagement and policy advocacy Contribute to position papers, industry consultations, and submissions to DoT, TRAI [Quality and timeliness of submissions ; no: of key policy clarifications secured or regulatory changes influenced that support business]
Core Competencies, Knowledge, Experience	Regulatory expertise - Minimum 5 years of regulatory experience ideally within telecom, deep understanding of telecom regulations, licensing, compliance frameworks and policy standards affecting consumer, enterprise and technology domains. Proven track record of regulatory evaluation, approvals, and compliance enablement for new products and services. Risk-based compliance assessment : Ability to evaluate business and technology initiatives using a risk-based, nuanced approach. Analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to identify regulatory bottlenecks, analyze ambiguities and propose practical solutions. Cross-functional coordination and collaboration : Strong skills in working effectively across technology, commercial, legal, privacy, security and product/business teams. Communication & advisory : Excellent verbal and written communication skills for articulating complex product proposals and regulatory requirements to diverse stakeholders. Policy advocacy and representation : capability to influence and effectively write on key business issues for influencing policy in favour of business objectives.
