Job Purpose

To manage and ensure end-to-end compliance with WPC (Wireless Planning & Coordination Wing) requirements, spectrum licensing, frequency assignments, and coordination with WPC, SACFA, WMO, RLO and other related authorities, supporting seamless rollout and operations of wireless telecom networks.

Key Result Areas/Accountabilities

Spectrum & WPC Regulatory Compliance

  • Handle WPC licensing, import licenses, frequency allocation, spectrum usage permissions, and renewals.
  • Ensure compliance with Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act, Indian Telegraph Act, and WPC guidelines.
  • Interpret WPC circulars, advisories, and policy changes and assess business impact.

 

Liaison & Coordination

  • Act as the primary interface with WPC, DoT, SACFA, TEC, and related authorities.
  • Represent the organization in meetings, consultations, and discussions with government bodies.
  • Coordinate responses to WPC/DoT queries, audits, and inspections.

 

Spectrum Planning & Utilization Support

  • Support internal teams on spectrum planning, usage optimization, and compliance reporting.
  • Monitor spectrum assignments and ensure adherence to permitted technical parameters.
  • Assist in spectrum-related inputs for new technologies

 

SACFA & Infrastructure Clearances

  • Oversee SACFA applications and approvals for BTS/tower installations.
  • Coordinate with internal rollout, RF, and infrastructure teams to ensure timely clearances.
  • Coordinate with OEMs and supply chain teams to ensure regulatory compliance before imports.
  • Track validity and renewals of WPC-related licenses.

 

Risk Management & Escalations

  • Identify regulatory risks related to spectrum and wireless operations.
  • Proactively flag non-compliance issues and support mitigation plans.
  • Handle escalations, notices, and penalties from WPC.

 

Core Competencies, Knowledge, Experience

  • Strong knowledge of WPC, spectrum policy, SACFA and DoT regulations
  • Excellent government liaison and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to interpret policy and translate it into operational actions
  • Strong documentation, drafting, and presentation skills
  • Analytical mindset with attention to regulatory risk and compliance

Must have technical / professional qualifications

  • Graduate in any discipline, Preferably BSC/ Btech
  • Hands-on experience dealing with WPC/DoT/SACFA
  • Exposure to large telecom operator or infrastructure company preferred

Years of Experience
