Job Purpose

To manage the Voice Core NSS operations and NSS Rollout at circle level. This role includes engagement with COG, SNOC, Product Factory, CXX, Planning, Transport and various inter-functional circle teams i.e. Marketing, CS, RA & Business, so as to deliver quake free and superior quality Voice Core services at circle. The role involves managing Voice core services multi-technology environment (viz. 2G, 3G, 4G CS Voice, VoLTE/IMS, VoIP, Signaling STP/DRA, Roaming and Support Enterprise Fixed Line & IOT).

Core CS Domain: MSC/GMSC, MSS/GCS, BC, MGW/GMGW, STP/SPS/DSR, DRA, MNP DB, HLR-(Mono, DX, NT), UDC, HSS, NDS, CDS, EIR/AUC, IMS VOLTE, TAS, SBC, Core MPBN-Routers & L2/L3 Switches, R4 Routers, STP Routers), EMS, PMS tool, Voice LI.


Key Result Areas/Accountabilities

  1. FIELD SUPPORT: Field support for issues resolution. Support to SNOC during incident resolution, upgrades and planned events. Report failures and drive to resolve in line with SLA/OLA. Capacity and KPI analysis and strive to improve same as per central guidelines & targets. Pro-active failure analysis. Offline backup support. MIS & report preparation/analysis. Support SNOC integration & Network Consolidation. Process adherance as directed by COG and SNOC. Redundancy testing. Management of Access and Long distance interconnects.
  2. CUSTOMER SUPPORT: Enrich customer Voice services by meticulous customer complaints analysis and resolution. Drive to sustain NIL revenue leakages in circle.
  3. PROJECT SUPPORT: Support new services/node rollouts and expansions HW/SW. Voice Core Infrastructure management and hygiene. Support field trials and POCs. Sync with UAT teams and RA for tests and clearances.
  4. DATABASE MANAGEMENT: Spare management & EOS/EOL management. Inventory management and quarterly sign off. Handle OPEX AMC/MS BPA PR PO as per Corp. Directives. Commercial co-ordination and closures at circle level.
  5. SECURITY MANAGEMENT: Support Nodal teams during TERM cell audits. Regulatory compiance adherence. Ensure MBSS security compliance of Voice Core nodes hosted in circle.


The Key KPI indicators are as below:-

  1. CS Core and VoLTE Node Availability – 99.999%, Blocked Circuits – Min – 0.2%, Backup DR availability and checks.  Loss of redundancy instances <=1
  • CS Core: Success Call Rate >= 99.98 % , Paging SR >=96%,  Internal Cong.– Min --0.2%
  • VOLTE: Call Success Ratio – Min - >=99.90%, Registration SR  - Min - >=99.95%
  • VOLTE: Average successful call setup time Max - <=2.5 secs
  • STP/ SPS:  Signalling load <= 40%, Signalling congestion ratio – 0%.
  • CLOUD : CPU utilization < 70%, Memory utilization < 70%
  1. Delivering own new series opening in short span time of 10 days thereby meeting business requirements. TAC EIR management and updates within 24hrs. Updates to central team/portal for code opening.
  2. Capacity management of Voice Core Nodes (Daily/Weekly/Monthly reports)

Core Competencies, Knowledge, Experience

  1. Should have at least 10+ years of experience overall in telecom domain with Voice Core  service knowledge with any platforms as Ericsson, Nokia, ZTE, Huawei etc.
  2. Experience in managing IP platforms viz. CISCO, Juniper, Huawei, Ericsson etc.
  3. Knowledge of Signalling, Roaming and Voice call flows in 2G/3G/4G/VoLTE domains.
  4. Experience in Cloud domain, knowledge will be a major plus.
  5. Excellent communication & inter-personal managerial skills, strong customer focus & seamless approach.
  6. Timely decision making and risk assessment.

Must have technical / professional qualifications

BE (E&C, Computers). Preferable to have knowledge in Cloud Technology or Cloud Certification (Redhat)..
